Duane Seibel worked within the BC Post-secondary System for 30 years at 6 different post-secondary Institutions. In his first 20 years held faculty roles teaching within Child and Youth Care and Human Service Programs including acting as Department Chair. While a faculty member Duane was activity involved in Faculty Association initiatives as well as, involvement with the Federation of Post-secondary Educators of BC.
Duane also held administrative and leadership roles within Student Affairs portfolios at Thompson Rivers University and Douglas College. He also was TRU’s Senior Harassment and Discrimination Prevention Advisor and Coordinator and Facilitator of the Government of British Columbia’s Discrimination Prevention Program.
Duane through his consulting firm, DKS Consulting, has provided training, advice and investigative services to numerous community agencies, PSI’s, Teacher Associations and Unions since 2008 in the areas of sexual violence and misconduct, bullying, threat assessment, conflict, harassment and discrimination. In January of 2020 he left his role of Director of Student Affairs and Services at Douglas College to consult full-time. He currently is retained by number of community organizations and post-secondary institutions to mediate or investigate alleged student or staff misconduct.
Although Duane provided consultative services while a faculty member and administrator, he began consulting full-time in January of 2020. Duane and his partner Michelle are both certified to deliver Mental Health First Aid through the Mental Health Commission of Canada with an expertise in the areas post-secondary environments (Faculty, Student Leaders, Students & Staff), as well as, to those working within health care environments.
